Tropical forests, and the Amazon rainforest in par Tropical forests, and the Amazon rainforest in particular, are the most important source of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) to the atmosphere. The species isoprene dominates these emissions.
The team around @alves_eg measured #isoprene emissions at ATTO to better understand how these emissions vary seasonally, under extreme climatic conditions like El Niño events & which biological and environmental factors regulate them. #AmazonScience

What role do downdrafts play in turbulence regimes What role do downdrafts play in turbulence regimes in the Amazon, and how do they affect potential tree mortality?
That's what Anne Mendonça & her co-authors analyzed in a new study.

We were at the @maxplanckgesellschaft #ScienceMart We were at the @maxplanckgesellschaft #ScienceMartket in Göttingen, Germany on Friday to show our research!
The Max Planck Institutes for Biogeochemistry and @maxplanckinstituteforchemistry shared a tent and presented @attoresearch and @flora.incognita. And the tents did come in handy because while not as hot, we definitely had some rainforest-like rain all morning. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

I'm happy to share that our new paper is out. We estimate #Amazonia #carbon emissions using atmospheric global inverse modeling and assimilating global and regional observations between 2010 and 2018
