Around 250 people are involved in ATTO, including many students conducting their Master- or PhD-thesis. They are located in many different institutes and universities, with a majority in Germany and Brazil.

Susan Trumbore, the german coordinator, is director at the MPI-BGC. Several groups at the institute work on greenhouse gases, volatile organic compounds, tree mortality and the cycles of matter, such as the carbon cycle.

Max Planck Institute for Chemistry

Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz

Originally conceived in Mainz, the institute is home of many research groups working on ATTO. Their research focuses on aerosols, volatile organic compounds, the chemical composition of and reactions in the atmosphere and cloud formation, among others.
