About the program
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) initiated the PRIME fellowship program to support the international mobility of postdoctoral researchers by temporary positions at German universities.
It gives Postdoctoral researchers of all nationalities the opportunity of a 18-month fellowship. Out of those, the successful candidate will spend a 12 months research stay abroad and subsequently 6 months German university. However, the destination of the research stay may usually not be the country where you are currently employed (see documentation for details). The fellowship provides funding through an 18-month temporary job position according to the appropriate rate for postdoctoral researchers (according to the German pay scale “TV-L E13”).
Applicants must have completed their PhD before starting the PRIME fellowship. But they may still be in the final stages of their degree by the time of application. Appropriate host institutions in Germany and abroad must have been identified at the time of application. The contact with these institutions and the agreement on modalities are the responsibility of the applicant. The German host has to be a university, but you may conduct your actual research at a non-university research institute (e.g. Max Planck Institutes) in coordination with a university.
The application deadline August 30th 2019. The starting date of the PRIME fellowship must be between May 1st 2020 and September 1st 2020.
For the selection, the committee will take into account: the achievements of the applicant to date (scientific and other qualifications) and the quality of the proposed project and its consistency with further scientific qualification and long-term career planning. Both aspects will be judged separately and both scores contribute equally to the final rating.
