The ATTO Micrometeorology Team is monitoring atmospheric and soil conditions throughout 2026 to identify possible changes associated with the evolving El Niño conditions in the central Amazon.
The monitoring combines current observations from the ATTO site with the climatological reference, allowing changes in air temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, soil temperature, and soil water content to be tracked over time. Monthly anomalies are also calculated to highlight whether current conditions are above or below the expected climatological values.
The results are presented through interactive figures that will be regularly updated as new observations become available. This initiative provides a near-real-time overview of environmental conditions at ATTO and supports the assessment of how the Amazon forest atmosphere and soil respond to anomalous climatic conditions.
